CASTRO VALLEY -- A San Leandro woman struck by a car while walking near Lake Chabot on June 7 died Wednesday, the Alameda County Coroner confirmed.

Kimberly Rivers, 41, was walking with another near the entrance to the regional park, located at 17500 Lake Chabot Road, around 7:20 p.m. when the two were hit, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Both pedestrians were awake and alert when paramedics arrived and were taken to a trauma center.

An autopsy is scheduled to determine Rivers' cause of death.

The condition of the other pedestrian was unavailable Wednesday night.

According to CHP officer Eric Morales, the investigation into the accident is ongoing, but the driver of the car that hit both Rivers and her walking partner was not driving under the influence of any alcohol or drug.
