CASTRO VALLEY -- A fast-moving vegetation fire charred two acres Thursday afternoon but no one was injured in the blaze near the Fairmont Ridge, a fire official said.

A helicopter from the East Bay Regional Park District Fire Department dropped water on the blaze and Cal Fire and Alameda County Fire crews fought the flames from the ground, said Alameda County Fire spokeswoman Aisha Knowles.

Crews were sent to the fire on Aylesbury Court off Lake Chabot Road at 2:34 p.m. and it was contained at 3:48 p.m., she said.

During the initial stages of the fire eight homes were threatened and additional resources were requested. No structures were damaged in the fire, Knowles said.
