OAKLAND-- Police are searching for a 64-year-old dementia patient they say walked away from his care home Saturday morning and never returned.

James Moten left his care facility in the 5100 block of Foothill Boulevard at 6:30 a.m. Saturday and was reported missing by his caregivers at 1:45 a.m. Sunday, police spokeswoman Johnna Watson said. Moten suffers from dementia and is said to be "at risk."

Moten is a black male with a medium complexion, 5 feet 2 inches tall and weighing about 140 pounds. He has brown eyes, a bald head and a beard, and was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and black sweatpants.

Anyone with information about Moten's whereabouts may contact the Oakland Police Department Missing Persons Unit at 510-238-3641.
