OAKLAND -- Two teens carjacked a man and his daughter at gunpoint Tuesday evening in San Leandro and led police on a chase that ended in a crash on the Golf Links Road freeway onramp.

Police arrested both suspects and recovered a real gun and a toy gun.

The names and exact ages of the teens were not released.

The incident began about 5:30 p.m. at Castro Street and San Leandro Boulevard when the duo ordered a man and his juvenile daughter out of their parked car at gunpoint. The two were not harmed.

The duo headed north on San Leandro Boulevard, where they were spotted by police, who tried to stop the car. The car sped away, entered Interstate 580 and then exited again at 106th Avenue, said San Leandro police Lt. Luis Torres.

When the suspects attempted to get back on the highway at Golf Links Road, they lost control of the car and crashed, police said. One teen was arrested right away. The other was arrested about 7:30 p.m. after a search, Torres said.
