OAKLAND -- Thieves rammed a truck into a gas station wall three times early Thursday and then lugged the ATM out of the station's mini-mart and into the bed of their pickup, the store owner said.
Police plan to review the station's surveillance video. The station and the store were closed when the theft occurred at 3:30 a.m.
No one was injured, and nothing else was stolen, said owner Babu Rampur.
Rampur has owned the 76 Station at 4500 Park Blvd. for a decade and has had minor break-ins, but nothing like this, he said.
The thieves left a gaping hole in one side of the station and workers spent Thursday making temporary repairs. Rampur has already been in contact with his insurance agent but said he won't know more about how much repairs will be or how long those repairs will take until Monday.
"The damage is really a lot. Really a lot," he said.
Still, he remains open for business.
