OAKLAND -- One firefighter suffered second degree burns and four animals are dead after a blaze burned a home on the 200 block of MacArthur Boulevard, officials tweeted Saturday.
No one else was injured.
Firefighters responded to reports of smoke and fire around 3 p.m. Both Oakland and Alameda County crews responded at the scene, according to the Oakland Fire Department's Twitter page.
The extent of the fire's damage is unknown, but Alameda County fire officials did tweet that two dogs and two birds were safely removed from the home before firefighters arrived. Sadly, they added, three cats and one dog died.
