Friends of the Alameda Animal Shelter is celebrating June as Adopt-A-Shelter-Cat Month with free cat and kitten adoptions from Friday through Sunday. All cats and kittens are spayed or neutered before adoption and have been health-checked, vaccinated and microchipped. While they are at the shelter, everyone receives lots of love and attention from the staff and volunteers so they are well socialized and ready for their new homes.
The shelter is open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. for the free adoption weekend and is at 1590 Fortmann Way in Alameda. Visit the FAAS website at www.alamedaanimalshelter.org or call 510-337-8565 for more information. To adopt, everyone in the household must meet the prospective cat or kitten, and you must show proof of homeownership or have a copy of your rental lease indicating you can have a pet. Here are just a few of the adorable cats and kittens waiting for someone to call their own:
Pet Of The Week: Meet Red. He is one of 50 cats and kittens available for free adoptions Friday through Sunday at FAAS.
Dog Alley: There are 20 available dogs at the Alameda Animal Shelter. LILY is a 3-year-old Papillon and Tibetan spaniel mix that is a pretty buff color. She's a bit shy and very sweet. WILLOW is a beautiful gray and white pit bull that is good with dogs, loves people and has a beautiful smile.
Cat Lair: There are 50 available kittens at the Alameda Animal Shelter. PIE is a perky, brown tabby that is 5 months old with a cute pink nose. SAM is a big orange tabby that would love a quiet home where he can adore someone and be adored in return.
Rabbit Row: MOCHI is a 3-year-old female white dwarf rabbit that is outgoing and very curious.
