OAKLAND -- Police say two teenagers were shot near an East Oakland park Saturday night, but both were expected to live.

Officers were called at 9:02 p.m. to the 9600 block of Sunnyside Street for a report of shots being fired, said Officer Kevin McDonald.

When officers arrived they found a male and female teenager who had both suffered gunshot wounds.

The teens were taken to a local hospital to be treated for their injuries, which were not life-threatening, police said.

A preliminary investigation revealed the two teens were standing in a park near Bancroft Avenue when someone shot them.

No motive has been established, and no arrests have been made.
