Three San Jose residents were arrested last week following a residential burglary on the 2100 block of Churchill Drive, Milpitas Police Department reported.
On June 18 at about 8:24 a.m., an alert citizen reported two suspicious people entering the back yard of a neighbor's home while a third person drove away in a black 1989 Nissan Altima.
When the Altima returned, the citizen confronted all of the suspects as they were leaving the area with property taken from the residence. One suspect physically assaulted the neighbor, and all three suspects fled in the suspect vehicle, police said.
Arriving officers saw the three suspects leaving the area at a high rate of speed, into a residential neighborhood in Fremont.
The driver lost control of the vehicle and struck a curb, where two suspects immediately surrendered. The third suspect fled on foot, but was arrested by police a short time later.
The resident who was assaulted sustained minor injuries and did not require medical attention. All of the victim's property was recovered at the scene, police said.
Oscar Campos, 21, was booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail on charges of robbery, residential burglary and resisting arrest. Lizardo Burgara-velarde, 19, and a 16-year-old boy were respectively booked into the jail and juvenile hall on robbery and residential burglary charges.
Milpitas Police Depart-ment encourages community members to be observant witnesses and report suspicious activity immediately. However, police caution residents about confronting suspects.
