SAN LEANDRO -- Police are searching for a man who robbed a computer repair and rental store that doubles as an online gaming business.

The robbery occurred around 12:15 a.m. on Wednesday morning at PC Repair and Rental located at 14410 Washington Ave., a store that also allows customers to play bingo and other games in a bid to win cash, according to a news release from San Leandro police Lt. Luis Torres.

An employee of the store told police that after he closed the business around midnight, he was cleaning up by himself and had entered the restroom when he was confronted by a man wearing a cloth wrap around his face. That person then pointed a silver-and-black handgun at the employee and told him to stay in the restroom, police said.

The employee's dog also was in the store and bit the suspect on the right hand but the suspect fought off the dog and ransacked the store. The employee stayed in the restroom during that time, emerging after about 30 minutes when he no longer heard anything, police said.

Neither the employee nor the dog were injured.

"The employee did the right thing by not engaging the suspect," Torres said. "Unfortunately, suspects know that these types of gaming businesses that operate under the cover of another type of business have large amounts of cash on site."

The suspect, described as a white man approximately 5 feet, 10 inches tall with a medium build, left the building with an undisclosed amount of money, Torres said. He was wearing a black cap, black coat and black pants, Torres said.
