OAKLAND -- A man shot in East Oakland the evening of July Fourth has died from his wounds, police said Monday.

Mortesse Wayne, 23, of Oakland, died Saturday morning at Highland Hospital where he was on life support since the shooting.

He was found shot about 9:48 p.m. July 4 in the 5700 block of Elizabeth Street near Seminary Avenue.

No motive has been established and no arrests have been made, police said.

A man fatally shot Saturday morning in West Oakland was identified Monday as Teric Traylor, 23, of Oakland.

He was found fatally shot about 7:30 a.m. Saturday in the 2200 block of San Pablo Avenue.

Police believe the shooting may have followed a fight between Traylor and another person in the area.

Investigators are trying to determine the motive and said no arrests have been made.

The two deaths bring the city's homicide total this year to 52. Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $10,000 in reward money in each case for information leading to the arrest of the killer.
