HAYWARD -- A workshop is planned Saturday to provide information on how certain undocumented immigrants can apply to remove the threat of deportation.
Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals covers some undocumented immigrants who were brought to the United States as children. Those who are given DACA status by the Department of Homeland Security are considered low priority for deportation.
The workshop will include immigration attorneys, a community organization and immigrants who have received DACA status, along with U.S. Rep. Eric Swalwell, D-Dublin, who is hosting the workshop. Swalwell is a member of Congress' Committee on Homeland Security.
After a presentation, there will be a DACA application workshop in a computer lab.
The workshop takes place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Chabot College Event Center, 722D, 25555 Hesperian Blvd.
