PLEASANTON -- A 19-year-old Dublin man was behind bars Friday after he knocked over another man with his truck after an argument at the mall, police said.

Around 5:20 p.m., officers responded to the Stoneridge Mall parking lot near J.C. Penney for reports that a man had been struck and injured by a car.

Police said that suspect Frank Gallant and the 28-year-old victim, who has not been identified, were involved in an argument which led to a physical altercation in the Stoneridge Mall parking lot.

The altercation ended and the victim began to walk away on the sidewalk on the east side of J.C. Penney when Gallant got into truck, drove up onto the sidewalk and struck the man, knocking him down, police said.

The victim was transported to a hospital where he was admitted with a concussion and abrasions.

When police arrived, witnesses told that Gallant had left the lot in a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck but had been followed as Gallant drove northbound on Foothill Road and crossed into Dublin.

Pleasanton police stopped Gallant on Dublin Boulevard just west of San Ramon Road and detained him.

Gallant was later arrested on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
