OAKLAND -- A freeway shooting on Interstate 580 on Saturday left a 29-year-old man wounded, authorities said.

The man, who is believed to be an Oakland resident, was riding with two other occupants in a car traveling eastbound near Seminary Avenue at around 8:20 p.m. when someone in another car began firing, police said.

The 29-year-old was wounded and remains in critical condition, authorities said. No one else was injured. No one has been arrested and a motive for the shooting was not available.

The incident blocked lanes in both directions for hours.
