Though not quite on par with the recent Bay Bridge closure, local motorists will have to rethink travel plans this week because of Highway 4 work through Pittsburg and Antioch.
All eastbound lanes of the freeway will be closed between the Loveridge Road and Somersville Road/Auto Center Drive exits from 1 to 5 a.m. Wednesday morning.
All eastbound lanes will be closed from Somersville/Auto Center to the Lone Tree Way/A Street exit from midnight to 5 a.m. overnight Wednesday and Thursday, according to a Contra Costa Transportation Authority news release.
The westbound lanes of that stretch will be closed from midnight to 3 a.m. overnight Thursday and 1 to 5 a.m. Saturday morning, as the contractor works on the new concrete pavement.
Eastbound motorists will be directed off the highway at Somersville/Auto Center and down Buchanan Road to Putnam Street. Westbound drivers will be detoured down E. 18th Street to Sycamore Drive.
Locally, all lanes of Somersville/Auto Center will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. overnight Tuesday through Friday where it crosses underneath Highway 4.
A single lane in both directions of Somersville/Auto Center will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Friday between Century Boulevard and Delta Fair Boulevard. A single southbound lane will be closed 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday through Friday on Lone Tree/A from Texas Street/Bryan Avenue to Tregallas Road.
Additionally, the eastbound on-ramp from Loveridge will be closed 1 to 5 a.m. Wednesday morning, the eastbound on-ramp from Somersville/Auto Center will be closed 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. overnight Wednesday and Thursday.
The westbound on-ramp from Lone Tree/A will be closed from midnight to 3 a.m. overnight Thursday and 1 to 5 a.m. Saturday morning, the westbound on-ramp from Contra Loma Boulevard/L Street will be closed midnight to 3 a.m. overnight Thursday, and 1 to 5 a.m. Saturday, and the westbound on-ramp will be closed 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. overnight Tuesday through Thursday and 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. overnight Friday.
The westbound off-ramp to Loveridge Road will be closed 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 a.m. overnight Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.
