HAYWARD -- A man and woman were arrested Thursday morning after crashing a reportedly stolen vehicle during a police chase that ended on Hayward streets.

The crash took place about 7 a.m. off Foothill Boulevard near Grove Way near downtown, said Alameda County Sheriff's Office Sgt. J.D. Nelson.

Several officers from Hayward police, the California Highway Patrol and the Alameda County Sheriff's Department were at the scene. After the crash, police arrested and handcuffed an unidentified woman then put her in an ambulance. She was taken to a hospital for treatment of unknown injuries.

A male suspect took off running from the car and holed up in a garage off Cotter Way for several hours, said Hayward Police. Lt. Mark Stuart.

Just before 11:50 a.m. someone saw the suspect leave the garage and police chased him again. A police K-9 officer eventually found the suspect hiding in brush on a hillside just east of Foothill Boulevard and the suspect was arrested.

The identities of the suspects were not released and police did not reveal from what city the vehicle was reported stolen.
