CASTRO VALLEY -- Health care expert Alex Briscoe and others will talk about how the Affordable Care Act is being implemented in Alameda County at a forum Thursday.
As head of the Alameda County Health Care Services Agency, Briscoe will oversee many of the changes in how medical services are provided. He and others will discuss key points of the new law and what effect the changes in coverage and health care services will have on residents and businesses.
The free forum begins at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Castro Valley Library, 3600 Norbridge Ave. It will be followed by a presentation on addiction and recovery in patients and health professionals by Dr. David Smith, an expert on drug abuse treatment.
The program is hosted by the Alameda and Contra Costa Counties Optometric Society in collaboration with Alameda County and the League of Women Voters Eden Area.
