CONCORD -- No shots were ever fired Saturday after a dispute between adults got out of hand at a popular gathering place for children, police said.

The search continued Sunday for a man police say may have been possessing a gun when the conflict unfolded at The Jungle in the Willows Shopping Center at 1975 Diamond Boulevard just before 5 p.m., Concord police Sgt. Carl Cruz said. Police do not know what sparked the argument, Cruz said.

The first officers at the scene were told by witnesses that an argument between two groups of people had spilled outside and that one man had a gun and may have fired it outside the building, Lt. Tim Runyon said Saturday. Police evacuated the building but never found a gun.

Cruz on Sunday said an investigation turned up no evidence that any shots were fired.

"We have no bullet strikes, no bullet casings," Cruz said. "We found nothing to suggest any shots."

Detectives were following up leads from the investigation and are still trying to determine whether someone had a gun, Cruz said.

Police have not made any arrests or named any suspects.
