A grass fire burned about three acres along San Pablo Dam Road on Monday afternoon and shut down the thoroughfare while fire crews investigated the blaze, fire officials said.
The fire, which broke out about 12:30 p.m., was contained at 1:30 p.m. It burned the area near the reservoir and was fueled by brush and Eucalyptus trees along the road, according to officials.
San Pablo Dam Road was closed in both directions between Bear Creek and Castro Ranch roads for several hours. The thoroughfare connects El Sobrante in western Contra Costa County with Orinda in the central part of the county.
About 45 fire personnel helped battle the blaze. No one was injured. The cause is under investigation.
