CONCORD -- One person was hospitalized but no children were injured when a school bus and car collided just down the road from a Concord middle school Monday, a California Highway Patrol officer said.
The collision happened at 6:57 a.m. on Pine Hollow Road and Krona Lane, near Pine Hollow Middle School, CHP Officer John Fransen said. Only two students were on the bus when the crash happened, and both were picked up by their parents, Fransen said. Police didn't release their ages and genders.
Fransen said the school bus driver told police he was stopped at a stop sign near the intersection, then pulled forward. He said he didn't see a Prius in front of him and collided with it at a slow rate of speed, Fransen said.
The driver of the Prius complained of pain and was taken to John Muir Medical Center, treated and released, Fransen said. The bus driver was uninjured.
