HAYWARD -- An elderly Hayward man was reunited with his granddaughter two days after he went missing from his home, police said.

Edward Moore, 77, was found about 3 p.m. Saturday, alert and in good health in the 900 block of 40th Avenue in Emeryville, Hayward police Sgt. Ken Forkus said. He had disappeared from his home in the 500 block of Sequoia Road in Hayward on Nov. 7.

Police did not say how Moore made his way to Emeryville, but Forkus said a resident recognized Moore from a picture that was circulated in the media and called authorities. Police were unable to confirm that Moore had been seen at the Hayward BART station after he went missing.

Moore takes medication for both dementia and diabetes but was in fine health when police found him, Forkus said. He lives in the home with his granddaughter and police said he'd never before wandered away unattended.
