Gurinder Singh, 18, Jesus Jimenez, 18, Victor Castro, 24, and Jesus Jimenez, 18, along with two unnamed minors were taken into custody after police served search warrants Friday night as part of their investigation into three home burglaries that happened Tuesday night, according to police. The two Jimenez suspects are not related.
Jimenez, Singh and Jimenez were arrested on suspicion of possession of stolen property. One Jesus Jimenez was also arrested on suspicion of burglary. Castro was also arrested on suspicion of resisting arrest.
Both minors face charges of burglary and possession of stolen property, police added.
In addition to stolen items from at least one residential burglary being found during the search, two loaded firearms and drugs were also found.
At least one of the victims, a family of four that lives on the 36000 block of Cherry Street in Newark, woke up without any gifts under their tree. The police officers on duty Christmas Day and the police officer's union raised roughly $200 to help the family restore some of their Christmas presents.
