A Vallejo man who was shot Saturday afternoon succumbed to his injuries, Vallejo police said Sunday.
The man was identified as Mica Williams, 25.
Williams was shot in the chest at about 2:35 p.m. Saturday, in the area of Santa Clara and Capitol streets near Vallejo City Hall.
Police said officers found Williams slumped behind the wheel of a vehicle. He was then taken to a hospital and kept on life support Saturday. Police said he died Sunday.
On Saturday, police said a suspect was seen by witnesses shooting at Williams' vehicle before fleeing the area in a car.
Williams, who was driving at the time of the shooting, lost control of his car, crashed into a parked vehicle as well as a sign on Santa Clara Street, a half block north of the City Hall, where the car rested.
This is Vallejo's first homicide in 2014.
