OAKLEY -- Residents here will be receiving an invitation to review the good, bad and the ugly of life in Oakley.

The city is sending two written surveys to 500 random customers of Oakley Disposal Service and, starting this week, all other Oakley residents will be able to contribute their two cents' worth on the city's website at http://www.ci.oakley.ca.us. They also can comment on its Facebook page.

In addition to being asked what they think of city services and amenities, residents will have a chance to weigh in on the Youth Master Plan, a document that the City Council approved in 2009 and now is updating. The plan outlines how the city intends to empower and give its young people a sense of worth, which in the past has meant including them in the workings of local government and offering them opportunities to develop leadership skills.

Comments are due by Feb. 7. The results of the survey will be available later that month.
