CROCKETT -- An Amtrak Capitol Corridor train struck a woman trespassing on the westbound tracks near the C&H factory on Wednesday morning, authorities said.
The woman, whose identity was not released, survived the impact after being struck around 7:30 a.m. by the No. 525 train traveling from Sacramento to a station near the Oakland Coliseum, Amtrak spokeswoman Vernae Graham said. The incident happened in an area not marked by a railroad crossings.
The woman was conscious when she was airlifted to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek, according to the Contra Costa Fire Department.
Graham said none of the 56 passengers or crew were injured in the collision.
Another Capital Corridor train and an Amtrak San Joaquin train were delayed as a result of the collision, Graham said. The scene was cleared by 9 a.m., and the delayed trains had resumed traveling to their destinations, Graham said.
