SAN LEANDRO--Firefighters battled a two-alarm blaze at a home under construction Thursday morning in unincorporated San Leandro, a fire spokeswoman said.

Firefighters received a call at 11:52 a.m. that a home in the block of Midland Road was burning.

The fire was extinguished at 12:22 p.m. The flames were so strong that the vinyl siding of a neighboring home melted, according to neighbors.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, according to Alameda County Fire spokeswoman Aisha Knowles.
