ANTIOCH -- A teenage boy was hit by a stray bullet during a shootout in Antioch on Monday afternoon, police said.

Bullets pierced several cars and struck the 14-year-old boy in the arm. It occurred at about 3:10 p.m. on the 1400 block of Sycamore Drive, said Antioch police Sgt. Santiago Castillo.

The teenager is believed to a victim caught in the crossfire, according to police. He was taken to a hospital, released a few hours later and is expected to make a full recovery. No one else was injured.

Police have made no arrests and have not established a motive for the shooting, which took place about two blocks from Antioch High School. Detectives are asking anyone with information related to the shooting to call the Antioch police department at 925-778-2441 or text an anonymous tip to 274637 using the keyword ANTIOCH within the text message.
