RICHMOND -- Three men arrested following a shooting at a Richmond apartment complex Tuesday morning are expected to be charged with assault with a deadly weapon, police said Wednesday.

Will Jay Bernstein, 18, Jacob Colbert, 22, and Michael Green, 23, all from Richmond, also may face other undisclosed charges related to the shooting, Richmond police Lt. Andre Hill said. Richmond police are expected to turn over their case to the Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office on Thursday morning.

According to Hill, the shots were fired around 11:35 a.m. at the Crescent Park Apartments complex, located at 4701 Hartnett Ave. Hill said the gunfire was sparked when one of the men, claiming he'd been robbed by one of the suspects, confronted him about that incident.

Nobody was hit by gunfire or injured, Hill said. Police caught the three men shortly after arriving at the scene, even though the trio were hiding in separate units, he said.

Three guns were collected as evidence after police served search warrants. The shooting continued an uptick in violence after five months without a homicide in the city. A man shot several times on Monday was expected to survive, but a man and woman last week were killed in separate incidents 24 hours apart.
