BAY AREA -- The California Highway Patrol is offering free teen driver safety classes in the Bay Area beginning Wednesday and continuing throughout the month.

April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month, and the CHP, in partnership with the California Office of Traffic Safety, is offering "Start Smart" classes to teach teens -- and their parents who are asked to attend -- about safe driving habits.

The first three sessions this week are in San Ramon, Brentwood and Sunol. For details and to reserve a spot, visit https://local.nixle.com/alert/5171599/?sub_id=988887.
