A Pinole man suspected in the shooting death of a man last month in Tara Hills has been arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder, authorities said Thursday.
Contra Costa Sheriff's Office deputies and detectives as well as officers from the U.S. Marshals Service arrested 28-year-old Michael McQueen in Sonoma on Wednesday, said Sheriff's Office spokesman Jimmy Lee.
Authorities had been looking for McQueen since the March 31 shooting death of 24-year-old Nicholas Callen in Tara Hills, an unincorporated part of Contra Costa County near Pinole.
McQueen surrendered without incident when authorities caught up to him on Wagele Drive at an undisclosed time Wednesday. He was booked into County Jail in Martinez and is being held in lieu of $1 million bail.
Callen was shot at home in the 2600 block of Cornelius Drive in Tara Hills around 2:50 p.m. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have not said how McQueen and Callen may have been connected before the shooting.
