RICHMOND -- A fire broke out at a steam boiler Monday at the Chevron refinery in Richmond, a refinery spokeswoman said.
The small fire was reported at about 3 p.m. when lube oil going to the bearings of a fan at a steam boiler ignited, spokeswoman Melissa Ritchie said. The blaze was quickly extinguished.
As a precaution, Richmond firefighters responded to the refinery but the fire was already extinguished, Ritchie said. No injuries were reported.
