ANTIOCH -- A woman seriously injured after driving into a tree early Thursday morning was in stable condition on Friday, police said.

Several people called police around 1:30 a.m. on Thursday morning to report the crash, and officers found the vehicle on its side next to a tree on Hillcrest Avenue near Deerfield Drive, Acting Sgt. James Wisecarver said.

The woman was trapped and crews needed a hydraulic machine to cut her loose from the wreckage, Wisecarver said. There were no passengers in the car.

The woman suffered several injuries and was flown to a hospital. Police did not say how the wreck happened or what type of car she was driving.
