Livermore police are investigating an attack on a woman jogger that occurred last Friday in Robertson Park.

The woman was jogging on a bike path between Rodeo Arena and Arroyo Road when she was approached from behind by a man who wrapped his arms around the victim's upper chest and shoulder area. He then proceeded to grope the woman, but she was able to break free and escape.

The attack occurred shortly before 6 p.m.

The suspect is described as possibly a Hispanic male, approximately 5 feet 8 inches, 180 pounds, and between the age of 30 and 40.

Between 2007 and 2014, eight women have been sexually attacked in Livermore while either jogging or walking alone, according to police.

"We want to remind people to run in pairs or without headphones and if you are using headphones, then be aware of your surroundings," said Officer Steve Goard, a spokesman with the Livermore police.

Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to call the Livermore Police Department at 925-371-4762.

In Concord, residents are also on guard after three women were grabbed and inappropriately touched by an unknown man while out walking or jogging over the past week.
