RICHMOND -- A Richmond man shot three times, including twice in the chest, remained in critical condition Friday morning, hours after a gunfire in Parchester Village.

Several people called emergency dispatchers to report shots fired in the 700 block of Bradford Drive around 10:50 p.m., Richmond police Sgt. Nicole Abetkov said. The 26-year-old victim was either inside or trying to get inside a car driven by others who were going to take the man to a hospital, Abetkov said.

The car stopped when police arrived, and officers eventually called an air ambulance for the man, who also was shot in the leg. He was airlifted to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek.

Police do not have a motive or a good sense of how the shooting developed, because neither the victim nor the people with him when officers arrived have cooperated, Abetkov said.

Anyone with information is urged to call the Richmond Police Department at 510-233-1214.
