OAKLAND -- Two East Bay groups consisting of 22 school districts, several community colleges and more than two dozen local business partners will receive $23 million in state funding to strengthen career education.
The awards are part of $250 million in Career Pathways Trust Grants aimed at linking education to careers.
The East Bay I-80/880 Consortium led by the Peralta Community College District will receive $15 million to prepare students for careers in health sciences, engineering, information and communication technologies and digital media, and public service. The group includes 10 Alameda County school districts and the West Contra Costa district.
The Diablo Gateways to Innovation Consortium will receive $8 million to offer similar programs. It includes 11 school districts in Contra Costa, Solano and the Tri-Valley area of Alameda County.
