FREMONT -- A tense, early morning armed-robbery attempt that included a teenager holding a gun to a worker's head ended safely when the employee beat the suspect into submission, police said Saturday.

Police were called to a Domino's Pizza outlet At 12:08 a.m. Thursday by an employee reporting the robbery.

The suspect and another employee were fighting at that very moment, police were told.

Officers arriving seconds later found the worker had disarmed and beaten the suspect into submission.

A male juvenile had held the two employees with a .22 caliber revolver to their heads, police said. The suspect was waiting for an automatic timer to open the safe, they said, when one of the workers took on the suspect.

The suspect was checked at a hospital and taken to Juvenile Hall, police said.
