A 20-year-old Redwood City woman accused of setting her boyfriend's bed on fire in a jealous rage pleaded not guilty Wednesday to charges of attempted murder, arson and burglary, according to the San Mateo County District Attorney's Office.

Jacqueline Alexandra Rivera was arrested in connection with the charges on April 26, 2012. Several months later, a Superior Court judge ordered her placed in a psychiatric facility after doctors' reports indicated she was mentally unable to aid in her own defense. Last month, doctors determined she was mentally competent and ready to stand trial, according to the District Attorney's Office. She remains in custody on $500,000 bail.

Rivera believed her boyfriend was cheating on her when she sneaked into his San Mateo home in the middle of the night, entered his room and set his mattress on fire while he slept, according to prosecutors. He suffered minor burns on his hands.
