OAKLAND -- A 10-year-old Vallejo girl was shot in the arm while attending a birthday party at a West Oakland park Saturday, police said Sunday. Three other people were also shot in separate incidents Saturday night and early Sunday.
The girl, whose name was not released, was attending a birthday party on the 14th Street side of Lowell Park about 5:16 p.m. Saturday when a shooting happened on the other side of the park near 12th and Filbert streets.
The girl was hit by a stray bullet, police said. She was taken to a hospital where she was in stable condition. Multiple shots were fired in the shooting, but no one else was reported injured. Police are trying to identify who was involved in the gunfire and what the motive was.
At 8:12 p.m. Saturday, a 22-year-old man was shot in the foot at 10th and Campbell streets in West Oakland. The man said he was shot by someone in a car but did not know why. He got a ride to a hospital and was in stable condition. Police don't think the man's shooting was related to the park shooting.
At 12:06 a.m. Sunday, a 23-year-old man was shot in the foot while walking in the area of Magee Avenue and Kansas Street in the Laurel district in East Oakland. The man told police he was shot by someone in a car but did not know the suspect or why he was shot.
At 5:05 a.m. Sunday a 28-year-old man was shot twice in the leg at a gas station in the 2100 block of East 12th Street in East Oakland. The victim reportedly got into an argument with another man, who got into a van and fired at the victim as he drove away. The man remains in stable condition at the hospital, police said. No motive was released for the shooting, and no arrests have been made.
Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $5,000 in reward money in each shooting for information leading to the arrest of the gunmen.
