NEWARK -- Firefighters have contained a vegetation fire in Newark, an Alameda County Fire Department dispatcher said.
Crews responded to a report of a fire in the 38800 block of Eureka Drive around 7:45 p.m. Sunday, the dispatcher said.
The 4-acre fire, in a rural area with limited access to water, was contained in about 30 minutes after crews arrived on scene, said department spokeswoman Aisha Knowles. Firefighters were still on scene late Sunday night mopping up.
According to the Alameda County Fire Twitter account, no structures were threatened by the Stevenson Fire, and there were no reports of injuries to firefighters, community members or pets.
