ANTIOCH - Friends and community members are rallying around an Iraq war veteran who was shot multiple times while walking near his Antioch home last Friday.
Brandon Del Fiorentino, 32, remains in the hospital recovering from gunshot wounds he suffered around 12:20 a.m. near the intersection of Golf Course Road and Judsonville Drive last Friday, according to police and messages on the East County Veterans Center Facebook page.
Del Fiorentino, also known as "Del," is a Purple Heart recipient who served multiple tours of duty in Iraq as a U.S. Marine, according to the East County Veterans Center, which provides resources for local veterans.
The Antioch resident, a married father of five, was walking home from a convenience store when he was shot four times, according to a message on a GoFundMe page set up to help raise money for Del Fiorentino.
He was taken to a hospital where he underwent surgery and remains in the Intensive Care Unit.
Police say no suspects have been arrested in connection with the shooting.
As of tonight, more than 100 people had donated over $10,000 via the GoFundMe page.
