OAKLAND -- A 26-year-old Oakland man is in grave condition following a two-car crash in the Fruitvale district on Sunday night, police said.
A BMW and Dodge Dakota truck crashed at 10:37 p.m. near the intersection of 35th Avenue and International Boulevard. The impact sent the Dodge, which was traveling south on 35th Avenue, onto the sidewalk, where the man was standing, according to police.
He was taken to a hospital and was listed in grave condition as of Monday morning. An 18-year-old Oakland man drove the BMW with a passenger while a 40-year-old Oakland woman drove the Dodge with two passengers. All five were taken to a hospital with minor injuries, police said.
Police are investigating the crash, though alcohol does not appear to be a factor. Anyone who witnessed or has information on the crash is asked to call traffic Officer Glenn Hara at 510-777-8540.
