LIVERMORE -- Officers searched a residence Tuesday afternoon after a woman reported that she had been assaulted by her possibly suicidal boyfriend and held captive in her home for several hours, but did not locate the man.

About 2:25 p.m., dispatchers received a 911 call from a "frantic" woman at a home in the 500 block of Colusa Way in Livermore. When officers arrived, the woman was uncertain if the man, who owns several firearms, was still inside or had left.

She told officers that the man had threatened to kill himself and kidnap the woman's child. Neither the woman nor the child were injured. It was not immediately clear if the child had been in the home at the time of the incident.

Police tried to contact the man by telephone and a bullhorn from outside the home but there was no response. Officers and a police dog went in and found the man was not there, police said. The name of the woman and the man, who has not been located, were not released.

Investigators are still trying to determine what occurred and find the man to interview him. Police said there is no danger to anyone in the neighborhood or the community. Police said they have been to the home before and know both the man and the woman.
