MARTINEZ -- Two people escaped without serious injury Wednesday night after a gunman robbed them and then fired shots at their car, police said.
The gunman reportedly climbed into the back seat of the vehicle as it was about to leave a business in the 4600 block of Pacheco Boulevard around 8 p.m., Martinez police Sgt. Steve Gaul said.
After getting into the car, the suspect reportedly hit the passenger over the head with the gun and demanded the occupants' wallets. When the car reached the 1300 block of Marina Vista Avenue, the gunman ordered the driver to stop and then hopped out, Gaul said.
As the vehicle drove off, the suspect fired several shots, Gaul said. Two shots struck the car but neither the driver nor the passenger was hit. The passenger turned down medical treatment for minor injuries suffered from being hit on the head.
Police did not provide a detailed description of the suspect.
