VALLEJO -- A woman was fatally struck by two different vehicles in a hit-and-run crash Monday evening in Vallejo, according to police.
Officers were dispatched to the intersection of Springs Road and Tregaskis Avenue at 6:23 p.m. on report of an injury crash.
Investigators determined that a 50-year-old resident of Vallejo had been struck by a white pickup truck while crossing Springs Road in a marked crosswalk. The collision had propelled her into another lane where the woman was struck by a Mercedes SUV.
The victim was transported to a hospital where she was pronounced dead as a result of her injuries, according to police. Her name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The white pickup truck that initially struck her allegedly fled the scene. A witness chased the vehicle but they did not get a license plate number, police said.
Police are circulating a photograph of the vehicle, which is believed to be a Toyota Tundra long bed with a lumber rack and front-end damage.
Anyone with additional information about the fatal hit-and-run is asked to contact officer Jim Melville with the traffic division at (707) 648-4014.
