HAYWARD -- A man killed Sunday night when he was hit by an Amtrak train was identified by the Alameda County Coroner's Office on Monday as Christopher Cabrera, 21, of Hayward.
Authorities said Cabrera was lying next to the tracks near Newhall Street and Huntwood Avenue about 9:56 p.m. Sunday when he was hit by an Amtrak train.
The train was number 748 traveling from San Jose to Sacramento, with 19 passengers on board. None of the passengers or crew were hurt, officials said.
Why Cabrera was lying next to the tracks remains under investigation, authorities said.
The train was delayed more than two hours after the incident.
