SAN LEANDRO -- Firefighters controlled a vehicle fire that spread into vegetation Monday afternoon, a fire official said.

Firefighters responded to a report of an abandoned car on fire at 3:42 p.m. in the creek near the 1100 block of Tulip Lane, said Aisha Knowles, spokeswoman for Alameda County Fire. The blaze was under control within 10 minutes of firefighters responding to the scene.

The abandoned stolen car caught fire in the creek between the train tracks and Tulip Lane, Knowles said.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
