BRENTWOOD -- Downtown Brentwood merchants can improve the appearance of their storefronts by taking part in a new Downtown Facade Improvement Program funded by the city's Economic Development Grant Program.

Grants through the program can pay for a portion of the costs for new signs, exterior painting, awnings or other storefront beautification projects. According to city officials, funding will be limited for this first introductory year and grants will be given on a first-come, first-served basis.

The future grants can cover the entire cost of the first $2,500 of a facade project and two-thirds of the cost of projects that are more expensive. To obtain more details about the project, call 925-516-5187 or send an e-mail to ptrudell@brentwoodca.gov.
