South Bay is among best job markets in U.S.
The South Bay remains one of the nation's strongest job markets, according to a survey released Tuesday by federal officials.
Over the 12 months that ended in November, Santa Clara County posted job totals that were 3.7 percent higher than the year before.
Only the Austin, Texas, job market was stronger during that same one-year period, with job growth of 4.4 percent.
The San Francisco-San Mateo-Marin region was No. 3, with a 3.4 percent gain, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported.
The East Bay posted job growth during the 12 months of 1.9 percent.
Intarcia seeks licensing deals
Hayward-based Intarcia Therapeutics is in advanced talks for licensing agreements on its websites.
The licensing deals would be for drug technologies that go beyond its primary implant to treat diabetes.
Intarcia is meeting with as many as five pharmaceutical and biotech companies in the coming days to discuss the licensing, the company's CEO said.
The licensing efforts would center on finding treatments for pain and neurological disorders, obesity and cardiovascular disease.
Cooper approves 3-cent dividend
Pleasanton-based Cooper Cos. declared a semiannual dividend of 3 cents a share as part of a program that had been approved by the company's
The maker of contact lenses and other medical goods said the dividend would be payable Feb. 7.
The dividend is being made available to stockholders of record as of Jan. 25, 2013.
