PETALUMA -- The oldest cheese company in the country has a new name.

The 150-year-old Marin County cheese company Rouge & Noir has renamed itself Marin French Cheese. And it's not just the name that's new -- the company has upgraded the cheese-making technology at its historic creamery, debuted a line of new packaging and labels and launched a new Brie cheese called Melange.

Marin French Cheese also recently added row crops, bee hives and pasture for livestock to its 700-acre property at Hicks Valley Ranch. The company said in a news release it will expand distribution this year to the East Coast and Midwest.
