If you want to watch streaming video on your smartphone or tablet, the Netflix mobile app is our top recommendation for both iOS and Android, with its reliable performance and great-looking video. If you aren't a subscriber or crave a wider range of video sources, though, there are other excellent apps that bring the Internet's videos to you. Here are three of our favorites.

Jasmine (iOS)

The good: The app has an intuitive interface and extra features for searching, browsing, and watching videos on YouTube. The bad: As a YouTube client, Jasmine has to play by some restrictive rules.

Squrl (iOS)

The good: Squrl lets you search many of the Web's most popular video sites. It also serves up video recommendations, and has a simple interface. The bad: A Home button and a way to bookmark favorite channels would be nice.

Showyou (Android)

The good: Showyou for Android aggregates videos from a number of different sources and makes them easy to sort through and watch. The bad: No video history or video queue.
